The viewing experience of HDTV is 10 times more detailed than standard television. This remarkable resolution is due to the greater number of pixels used to display images. Another factor is the number of resolution lines. HDTV displays 720 or 1080 lines of resolution, making for dramatically sharper, more detailed images.

Most HDTV programs are delivered in widescreen format, the same 16:9 aspect ratio used to display movies at your local theatre. Standard television uses a 4:3 aspect ratio and in many cases images are cropped to fit your television screen, resulting in a loss of picture. With HDTV, you see the entire picture.
